The Ballarat area is home to seven men’s sheds who have made contributions to the region by assisting with a wide range of projects.
The Sebastopol Men’s Shed operates five days a week and gives roughly 70 members a chance to get involved in community work while forming new bonds and relationships.
“We are here to help the community where we can, we put in for grants, we help kinders and schools when they need it, we have done some work at old people's homes,” President of the Sebastopol Men’s Shed Les Shimmin said.
Mr Shimmin said the blokes at the Sebastopol Men’s Shed have seen wonderful personal benefits too.
“In my position I see everyone coming in and out and I can see the changes going on; it’s doing people a lot of good,” he said.
“The rounded shoulders disappear and people stand up straighter and get a lot cheekier.”
