A Ballarat man serving time in jail for robbing two milk bars armed with an axe returned to court on Tuesday to face driving and theft charges.

Konrad Szalontai, 27, pleaded guilty via videolink at Ballarat Magistrates Court to the charges, which included driving while disqualified, driving in a manner dangerous and unregistered driving.
The court was told police identified the accused sitting in a car, with a female passenger, parked out the front of a Mt Pleasant property on May 13, 2017 at 3.40am.
Szalontai was wanted on a number of warrants at the time.
A police officer approached Szalontai to speak with him but he quickly reversed, causing the officer on foot to take evasive action, the court was told.
The police officer tried again to arrest Szalontai but he swerved his car and took off at a fast speed, almost colliding head-on with the police vehicle.
He was disqualified from driving and was driving an unregistered car bearing false number plates.
The offence occurred eight months after Szalontai attempted to rob a Joseph Street milk bar while on an ice bender wearing a mask and armed with an axe on September 11, 2016.
Fifteen minutes later her targeted a second milk bar in Kline Street, taking off with about 12 packets of cigarettes.
He breached a community corrections order.
Szalontai was sentenced to two years and nine months' jail in the County Court on August 25.
Szalontai on Tuesday also pleaded guilty to stealing a knife block set from a Stockland Wendouree store on September 10, 2016.
Defence lawyer Maddie Carroll urged the court to impose a sentence he could serve concurrently.
She said Szalontai would be eligible for parole in July 2018.
Magistrate Mark Stratmann sentenced Szalontai to nine months' jail to be served concurrently with the jail term he is already serving.
He was sentenced to a further one month jail, to be served concurrently, for breaching the CCO.
He was disqualified from driving for six months.
