In the nine years that she has been chief executive of the not-for-profit, the organisation has undergone massive change to streamline its processes ahead of the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
This dramatic overhaul and revamp of the organisation’s services has seen Ms Hubbard announced as one of three Victorian finalists in the Telstra Business Woman of the Year awards.
“We have completely reoriented the whole organisation,” she said.
“With the introduction of the NDIS there is no part of the organisation that hasn’t been changed.”
Those changes include new computer software programs, streamlined processing systems, and buying property so the services have a permanent home not at the mercy of the private rental market.
A big change has been a shift in thinking, with Ms Hubbard introducing lean thinking to Pinarc and examining every process and action to eliminate wasted time.
Pinarc has also branched out in to running a social enterprise home automation business Easy Tech Living to help clients and to diversify their income stream.
“People know you can open your blind and open and shut doors with home automation, but it hasn’t significantly been done for people with a disability so we have put together a one stop shop for people of any ability,” she said.
“Even if people can only move their arm a little bit, or are in wheelchair, or have only head movement, we can trigger a technological response to give them control over their home environment and that’s really important for quality of life.”
Passionate about social justice, Ms Hubbard has spent more than 20 years working across the palliative care, mental health and disability sectors.
“Business women play an instrumental role in driving better organisational performance, increased competitive advantage and a thriving economy,” said Telstra chief marketing officer Joe Pollard.
The winner of the Telstra Business Woman of the Year award will be announced on October 10.
