Darth Vadar sporting Mickey Mouse ears, Princess Leia alongside the likes of Snow White, Jasmine and Belle, and Jar Jar Binks as Goofy are just some of the images to crop up on social media following the news Disney is purchasing Lucasfilm.
The sale of George Lucas' production company of course means Disney now has access to the Star Wars franchise and fans of thefilms took to social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram to express their take on the two iconic brands uniting.
The Indiana Jones franchise was also included in the sale but didn't have quite the same cache in the lampoon stakes, barely raising an ironic eyebrow, although a picture of Harrison Ford with a Toy Story bent was a nice addition. (Disney also owns Pixar).
Included in today's announcement was Disney's plans to extend on the famous franchise with Star Wars: Episode 7 set for release in 2015. Fans took this announcement one step further, using the #disneystarwars hashtag to imagine a new world of Star Wars-influenced Disney film titles, such as Snow White and the 7 Droids and The Mighty Ewoks (see Mashable for more).
Following are some of our favourite Disney/Star Wars image mash-ups. Enjoy.
