The state titles will be on Lake Wendouree over the weekend of March 3-4.
Unlike last time the championships were in Ballarat in 2016, there will be a week between the state regatta and the Ballarat Associated Schools head of the lake.
The two events were held back-to-back over three days last year, with a Friday head of the lake immediately followed by the two-day state championships.
The head of the lake has been scheduled for Sunday, February 25.
Having the regattas a week apart also allows the BAS event to remain in a preferred Sunday morning timeslot.
BAS administrator Sharyn Canny said Rowing Victoria’s decision to have the state titles on the first weekend in March had been an ideal fit for the head of the lake.
Ballarat Rowing Association will open the rowing season on Lake Wendouree with its annual regatta on Saturday, January 20 with club and school divisions.
Other events scheduled for Ballarat:
February 3-4 (Saturday and Sunday): Wendouree-Ballarat Rowing Club regatta (club and school).
April 14 (Saturday): Ballarat Rowing Association masters regatta
The head of the lake and state championships lead into other major regattas, including the School Sport Victoria titles on the Barwon Rivers, Geelong on Thursday, March 15 and head of the schoolgirls on the Barwon on March 16-18.
The nationals in Sydney start on March 19.
THE Lake Wendouree rowing course has new starting platforms.
The new infrastructure has been been in the process of being installed over the past week.
