Experienced mentor Aaron Tymms has been given the task of trying end the Bloods’ finals drought, which stretches beyond a decade.
He steps up after being an assistant to Brad Murphy, who is now coaching St Albans in the Western Region league, this year.
Tymms takes senior coaching experience into the job.
He coached Albion, where he also played 400 games, in the WRFL for three years up to the end of 2016.
He was also part of the WRFL inter-league coaching panel.
Melton president Greg Davis said the Bloods believed they were heading down the right path and Tymms was the person to take them to the next step.
Tymms said it was going to take a lot of hard work to achieve the goals.
“We can have all the talent in the world, but hard work defeats talent when talent fails to work hard,” he said.
He will launch pre-season training on Monday, November 13.
This leaves Sebastopol and Lake Wendouree to finalise senior head coaching positions, with Shane Snibson and Tim Malone standing aside.
