The fundraiser formed part of Daniher’s Drive, which saw a convoy of more than 100 cars stop off at a host of locations across regional Victoria and New South Wales including Wagga Wagga, Echuca, Charlton and Donald. A host of AFL footballers joined the Essendon and Melbourne star on the journey.
So far the drive has managed to raise more than $2.1 million for MND awareness.
Mr Daniher’s daughter Rebecca Daniher said the funds would help to keep a team of dedicated researchers at work, searching for a cure to the degenerative nerve disease.
“It’s been an amazingly successful campaign and the money is still coming in,” Ms Daniher said. “We love coming out to the country because the towns are so supportive.
At least two Australians are diagnosed with MND daily while a further two people also die from the disease every day.
