The charge was led by star bowler Andrew Warrick, who showed his all-rounder status by hitting 88 runs off 66 balls – including six sixes.
He was well-supported by Matt Harris who made 22.
The pair came together with the Pointies seven down for 159 and a sub-200 total looking likely. But by day’s end, Golden Point had put itself into poll position.
Captain Josh White was stoked to get well-over 200, something at one stage he thought was in doubt.
“We weren’t as many as we would’ve liked at one stage, but we certainly finished off pretty well,” White said.
“With 20 (overs) to go I was going to be happy with 200.”
Simon Ogilvie impressed with 69 runs while Oliver Hayes took 5-68 for the Hawks.
