The Melbourne Jazz Quartet will perform music from some of the jazz giants, including Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and Frank Sinatra, on Saturday, October 28.
Ballarat Events managing director Gerard Ballinger said he wanted to bring more of the genre to Ballarat.
“They are really of a high calibre and I wanted to bring them along to Ballarat so people can enjoy the jazz and have a wonderful night of entertainment,” he said.
“As individual performers they have been around for a long time, they are all fantastic and together, as an ensemble, they’re brilliant.”
On Sunday, October 29, the Ballarat Jazz Club presents Cope Street Parade – a high-energy ensemble spanning the genres of folk, pop, gypsy and swing.
The group blurs the lines between the contemporary and the classic, with influences including Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Father John Misty and Leadbelly.
Mr Ballinger said all ages were welcome to attend both performances.
“There are a lot of young musicians playing jazz these days, so the music will appeal to them, but also right through to mature-aged people – if you love jazz, come along,” he said.
