Captain Andrew Duhau and mercurial onballer Alik Magin have committed to stay with the Lions.
It was be Magin’s third season at Sunbury.
Coach Ben Jordan said getting the two leadership group members to re-sign was a key to further player retention.
“They’re big signings.”
Although Sunbury has lost best and fairest ruckman David Kovacevic, Adam Short, Tom Donoghue and Ben Said to St Albans in the Western Region league, keeping Duhau and Magin is helping to spark a string of re-signings.
They were coupled with Nathan Bridgland and young gun Lachie Bramble in a group announcement, with Jordan saying he was confident there would be more later this week.
On Williamstown’s VFL list, Bramble made one appearance with Sunbury this year.
The 19-year-old played five games in the VFL and 14 in the AFL Vic Development League last season in his first year with the Seagulls after graduating from the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup.
The demise of the the development league means players of the ilk of Brambles might spend more time with their home clubs.
Jordan said Bridgland was a young leader at the club.
