The flag was flown at half mast outside of the Buninyong Bowls Club where more than 100 bowlers along with family and friends of Mrs Mitchell lit a candle while remembering the 71-year-old.
Chaplains and counsellors were on hand to help those still coming to terms with the smash that also left 17 people hospitalised.
Also among the guests was Bowls Victoria president Barbara Gilbert, who praised members of the Ballarat District Bowls Division for supporting each other through the difficult time.
Mrs Mitchell’s involvement in bowls stretched well beyond the BDBD boarder due to her role as the region’s representative to Bowls Victoria.
“The bowling community is a very close community and when tragedy happens everybody gets behind each other,” Ms Gilbert said. “There’s been phone calls of support coming from all over Australia because people genuinely care and feel for what’s happened.
“(Mrs Mitchell) had done a lot of work for bowls and she was a very genuine person and you can tell how much people cared about her and how much she cared about them.”
As of Tuesday evening two patients remained in The Alfred hospital, one in a critical but stable condition and the other serious but stable. A further two were stable in the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Six patients also remain at the Ballarat Base Hospital in a stable condition.
Mrs Mitchell’s funeral will be held at 2pm on Friday at the Doug Lindsay Reserve in Creswick.
