Three Ballarat women will play an important part in the running of one of the world’s big sporting events next year.

Mother and daughter Christine and Caitlin Christie will join Sarah Davis on a trip to the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commwealth Games.
The trio will officiate during the athletics program.
Davis is the most experienced of the three women and is highly respected around athletics circles.
She has been picked to serve as a chief field judge at the Games.
“To be able to do this is like a dream come true,” Davis, who is battling cancer, told The Courier.
The Christie girls, who are members of the Wendouree Athletics Club, will work underneath Davis in field roles during the Games.
“It’s definitely an honour to have been chosen in any international-level event and the Commonwelth Games is a big thing in Australia, so to be chosen is definitely an honour,” Christine said.
“For us, as a mother and daughter duo, to have aimed at and been both chosen to do it is a real thrill for us.”
The Commonwealth Games will run between April 4-15 next year.
Anyone interested in getting involved in officiating athletics can attend a beginners course at 6pm on Thursday, November 30 at the Llanberris sports centre.
