The 2015 Henderson Medalist has returned to the fold after one year with Altona in the Western Region league.
Darley coach Heath Scotland said getting Kennedy back was massive for the reigning premier.
Kennedy played in Darley’s first BFL premiership in 2015, the same year he won the league best and fairest, and captained the BFL against the WRFL in the AFL Victoria Community Championship. in 2016
Scotland said Kennedy had been a huge loss at the end of 2016 and having him agree to terms for a return was a real bonus.
“He brings a lot to the club.”
Kennedy will take on an assistant coaching role.
Scotland said Kennedy would look after the forwards, with Dan Roy overseeing the midfield.
Although Kennedy was playing with Altona, where he started his football before his first move to Darley, he maintained close ties to Darley Park and was a regular at Devils games this year.
With Scotland retiring as a player, Kennedy is an ideal replacement – although he will play a slightly different role.
Scotland said with a heavy focus on retention, Darley did not expect to lose any top-end players.
He said the high retention rate meant the Devils had been able to target specific needs in their recruiting.
