Doodt partnered the Wayne Walters-trained Brigadier to victory in the $20,000 feature race.
The horse claimed a one-length win in the Avoca Cup, beating Mick Sell’s Penny To Sell and Mitchell Freedman’s Not To Know.
Brigadier, a five-year-old galloper, was having just his second start back from a Queensland campaign during the middle of the year.
He failed to claim a victory in five starts up north, but was narrowly beaten first-up on his home track at Mt Gambier before the weekend’s triumph.
Brigadier has now won four of his 38 career starts.
Saturday’s success is surely a career highlight for Doodt, who has ridden more than 30 winners during her brief career in the saddle.
She is apprenticed to Ballarat trainer Dan O’Sullivan.
Doodt had four other rides at Avoca, but was unable to land another win.
