De Zoysa spent the day in the field and will play a much bigger role when Golden Point take to the crease this weekend against Wendouree.
De Zoysa has played 110 first-class matches in Sri Lanka and was on the verge of national selection at stages throughout his first-class career.
The top-order batsmen, who averaged 28.3 runs including a double-hundred, was excited to get into the season and adjust to the Australian conditions.
The Sri Lankan touched down in Australia prior to round three and is expected to bolster the Pointies batting line-up as well as bowling part-time off-spin.
De Zoysa will live with fellow recruit Tharanga Fernando. Fernando also comes to the club with an impressive resume.
Originally from Sri Lanka, he has been in Victoria for a number of years and is currently working in Melbourne.
Fernando contacted a number of clubs as he looked to move to a regional area and Golden Point were eager to gain the all-rounder’s services. Playing for Sunshine in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association north A1 competition the off-spinner took 59 wickets at an impressive average of 9.6.
