Residents in Teesdale, Haddon North and Cape Clear are among those to benefit from the roll-out of 25 mobile black spot towers across western Victoria.
The construction comes after Optus announced it would spend $1 billion on mobile black spot infrastructure earlier this year, committing to building towers at Miners Rest, Waubra, Amphitheatre, Lexton, Colac and Ararat.
In September 2016 the telecommunications provider also committed $3.5 million to build new towers at central location such as the Ballarat Base Hospital, Newington, Alfredton, Delacombe, Lake Wendouree North, Ballarat Airport and Bonshaw.
Optus regulatory and public affairs vice president Andrew Sheridan said the spate of new towers demonstrated the company’s commitment to servicing regional Australia.
Regional Development Minister Jaala Pulford said “we’ve worked closely with Emergency Management Victoria to ensure our regional communities in these areas have mobile access”.
