Kent nominated the listed $300,000 Sportsbet Ballarat Cup, 2200m, on Saturday, November 15, as possibility the next target for Oncidium Ruler after he saluted at Flemington on Saturday.
The six-year-old took out the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Plate, 2000m.
“Our aim is to go to the Ballarat Cup and then go to the Pakenham Cup. It’s the obvious stepping stone,” Kent said.
“I think the race we really want to eye is the Pakenham Cup, it’s two weeks after Ballarat (Cup), it’s over 2500 metres on a beautiful, big, sweeping track and that’ll suit him down to the ground.”
Kent knows all about winning Ballarat Cups – a race he won with My Bentley in 2010 and Domesky in 2011.
Winning jockey Beau Mertens said Kent never put horses out of their class.
“He’s really good with his placement and he’s done a good job with this guy here today.”
