Port Melbourne needed just one innings to end Ballarat City Brewers’ hopes of a first win of the Baseball Victoria Summer League division two season in Ballarat on Saturday.

The visitors stole a march with a six-run eighth innings to lead 7-0 and wrap up the game.

Pitching import Jagger Harjo gave up just one earned run through five innings to have Brewers in the hunt.

Ballarat had opportunities, but left runners stranded on base too often.

Dan Hamilton relieved Harjo on the mound and after keeping tabs on the Port hitters through the sixth and seventh came under fire in the eighth frame.

Ballarat now backs up against against Malvern at Melbourne Ballpark on Tuesday night before meeting the Braves again on Sunday.
