Australian Bloodstock’s Jamie Lovett said the 2200m assignment was a likely option for the five-year-old.
Lovett said Mr Garcia was being freshened up after a first-up win in Australia and how well he did over the next week would determine if he ran.
Mr Garcia has joined the Ballarat stable of Darren Weir after landing in Australia under the care of 2014 Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Andreas Wohler.
Wohler guided Mr Garcia, which is part-owned by Ballarat Turf Club committee member Tim Porter, to victory in the $120,000 Twitter Trophy, 1800m, at Flemington on Thursday.
That was Mr Garcia’s first start since August and took his record to four wins in nine starts.
Wohler has also left his Melbourne Cup runner Red Cardinal in Australia to be trained by Weir.
Wohler, who described Mr Garcia as a progressive type, said he was sure Weir would have fun training the duo.
MATT Cumani’s plans to have a Ballarat Cup starter remain firmly on track with Grey Lion producing a brave second to Vengeur Masque in the group 3 $300,000 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, 2600m, at Flemington on Saturday.
Grey Lion looked the winner when he loomed up after straightening for home, but was unable to get past the Michael Moroney-trained stayer.
BALLARAT Turf Club is set to have the biggest pool of youngsters available for the $200,000 Magic Millions 2yo Clockwise Classic, 1000m, on Cup Day since the inception of the event in 2012.
The BTC has received 23 nominations for qualifying clockwise trials at the Sportsbet-Ballarat circuit on Tuesday morning.
The club has all up had 46 entries across a series of trials, which horses which have not raced in a clockwise direction must compete in to be eligible for the feature event unless.
BTC chief executive officer Lachlan McKenzie said this was twice as many as any other year.
“It’s a great indicator that the race has grown in stature and is now being targeted by trainers.”
This is the only thoroughbred race run clockwise in Victoria and only Magic Millions sales graduates are eligible.
The race was established with the aim of giving Victoria 2yos experience of racing clockwise ahead of the Magic Millions Carnival on the Gold Coast early in the new year.
