However, the young man has vowed to turn his life around following the birth of his daughter just seven weeks ago.
Lachlan Ronis, 26, admitted to hiding a Nissan Navara at his address for a friend when we knew the car had been stolen and driving with methamphetamine in his system, on separate occasions.
Magistrate Clive Alsop said Ronis’ tumultuous upbringing was no excuse for his behaviour but overall he is a responsible member of society as reflected in his character references provided to the court.
“We have life choices to make, all of us,” he said.
“People are always saying they are good people and by and large they are but I am dealing with your behaviour at a certain point in time.”
Ronis was fined $2000 with a three month licence suspension.
