More than 25 vehicles were significantly damaged in the attack, which occurred in the early hours of last Saturday morning.
Cars on Caroline Street, Elaine Avenue and Arrandale Avenue were among those targeted.
“I noticed the alarm go off and I got up and the next door neighbour’s back windscreen was smashed, that’s when the police were called,” Resident Stuart Scott said at the weekend.
“It’s very very annoying.”
It comes after the latest crime data revealed theft from a motor vehicle was the most common crime in Ballarat.
Police said residents should never leave belongings in cars.
