Police were called in to the scene following reports the truck lost control and crashed along Maroona-Glenthompson Road near Willaura about 12.10pm.
It’s believed the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Pictures of the crash showed smoke billowing into the air following the incident.
Victoria Police spokesman Sergeant Cameron Scott said officers closed the road for much of the afternoon as crews worked to clear the scene.
Police have launched an investigation into circumstances leading up to the smash.
The tragedy brings this year’s road toll across Victoria to 216.
It was 259 at the same time last year.
