Ballarat Police Senior Sergeant Stacey Glenister has urged motorists to be careful on the roads, which could be in poor condition due to heavy rainfalls.
She said motorists should reduced their speed and drive per the conditions rather than the speed limit across the weekend.
With emergency services predicted to be under strain, Senior Sergeant Glenister urged the public to stay safe and avoid going out or driving in bad weather if possible.

She also asked the public to be mindful when requesting emergency assistance.
If the matter is an emergency, ring triple zero, but if the matter is not urgent, Senior Sergeant Glenister suggested a better option would be to attend the station in person to ease strain on resources.
She also said contacting police next week for matters that could wait would be “very appreciated”.
Ballarat Police, Bacchus Marsh Police, Ballarat City Fire Brigade and SES have said while there were no major incidents overnight, the emergency services were prepared for a busy Friday and weekend.
