BCA operations officer Greg Wakeling told The Courier the committee met after 5pm on Friday and eventually came to the decision to abandon all matches.
Before that meeting, notification had already been given of the cancellation of junior matches scheduled for Friday night and Saturday morning.
In coming to the decision to cancel senior games fixtured for Saturday, Wakeling said the committee took into account advice from Cricket Victoria and were mindful of trying to limit transport where possible in poor weather conditions.
Kirton Shield under-17 representative matches scheduled for Sunday have been moved to the hard wickets at Russell Square.
Conditions will be further assessed before a call is made on whether or not the games go ahead.
