Young party-goers love traditional Christmas fun at Ballarat Health Services’ carnival | video, photos

SANTA managed to catch a ride with State Emergency Service volunteers to make sure he could be part of carnival Christmas fun at Burrumbeet on Sunday.

Mr Claus received a rock star-style reception, complete with lights and sirens, at Ballarat Health Services’ social club kids Christmas party. The party, despite ominous weather warnings, still drew about 1600 people.

The social club put on extra show rides this year but old favourites still proved popular.

“I like the dodgem cars best because I got to hit into everyone,” seven-year-old Makayla said. Her friend Amarli liked the speeding down the shark slide.

BHS served up 1200 sausages, 1200 hamburgers and 800 hot dogs for festivities.
