The Courier has compiled a list of all the best Christmas festivities happening in Ballarat during the lead up to Christmas.
With plenty of carols services, musicals and the Central Square Christmas Lights Competition coming with a handy map, you’ll be able to navigate the silly season in the city with style.

CAROLS
Buninyong Carols - December 9, 7.30pm at DeSoza Park. Headlined by Geoffrey Williams, with a Lions Club barbecue and children’s crafts from 5.30pm. READ MORE: Buninyong Carols promising soul and community spirit
Bungaree Carols - December 10, 8pm. Held at St Johns Church, 309 Bungaree Wallace Road.
Ballan Community Christmas Carols - December 15, 7pm. Ballan Mechanics Institute, 143 Inglis Street.
Clunes Carols on the Common - December 17, 5pm.
North Gardens ‘Eureka’ Carols by Candlelight - December 17, 7.30pm at the North Gardens Reserve. The city’s biggest carols service, with 5000 people perched on picnic rugs and getting festive.
Central Square Carolers - December 9, 16, 17, 20 and 23, various times.
Haddon Christmas Eve - December 24, 8pm at the Haddon Recreation Reserve Oval. Carols will be lead by the Haddon Concert Band and the Haddon Church of Christ choir.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
The Courier is proud to host the Central Square Christmas Lights Competition again this year.
There’s a $500 voucher from Central Square for the house voted best in Ballarat, so get your entries in before December 13. Voting will open December 14.

ELF ON THE SHELF
Santa’s cheeky helpers have taken Ballarat by storm, with elves infiltrating houses and keeping an eye on all the naughty and nice things the region’s children do.

PARTIES
Filipino Australian Association of Ballarat Inc is holding their Christmas Party at St James Hall, Albert Street Sebastopol on Saturday, December 9. Children’s party at 5pm, adults at 6.30pm. Tickets $15, contact Arlene Brewer for more information on 0468 535 829.
