The 2017 event held over the weekend featured artists such as Aldous Harding, Warpaint, Todd Terje and The Olsens, Noname, Total Control, Future Islands, and so many more. 

The Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre was transformed into a wave of colour and atmosphere for the 26th year in a row with the three-day, two-night event drawing about 15,000 revelers from all around the country.  

Senior Sergeant Paul Maslunka of the Bacchus Marsh police said the crowds at the festival were well behaved overall and he was happy to have been policing the festival. 

This is the second time in a handful of years Sergeant Maslunka has policed the festival and he had nothing but kind words for the attendees. 

“We saw very good behavior and the crowd was excellent; there was a really good feel and from our point of view we couldn’t fault a large proportion of the crowd,” he said.  

“It’s generally always a happy and well behaved crowd, different to other festivals but even right through to their driving behavior after the event was good.

“The end of the festival puts a significant number of cars on the road at one time but everyone was really patient and respectful. 

“They are a different crowd, really easy to get along with, it’s a nice event to police to be honest.”

Of the thousands of people who attended the festival, only four people ran into trouble with the authorities policing the event

“Generally there were no real trouble makers but we processed some people for drug offences,” Sergeant Maslunka said. 

“There were a mixture of non-cannabis drugs and two people have been remanded in custody and two others will front at a later time.”
