Britt has only recently taken up the game, but has quickly shown great talent for it.
The 14-year-old first got the clubs out on a regular basis eight months ago, playing with her Dad.
While she does not get a chance to play as much as she would like with school, come the holidays, she is a regular at Midlands Golf Club.
“I’d always had a few hits, but not really played and then I decided to and I really liked it,” Britt said.
In her short time in the game, she has cut her handicap from 45 to 23 and that looks set to further shorten following the scholarship.
The idea is to encourage the recipient to further develop their game by offering a great prize package which will provide Britt with experiences and extra opportunities to continue her rapid development.
“I really appreciate the opportunity.
“It gives me the confidence to play more and encourages me to get better.”
Britt said while not many girls her age play, she enjoys playing with fellow members, most of which are well her senior.
She added her game was quite balanced, but said there was still plenty to work on.
“Hopefully in the next few months my handicap might come down.
“There’s still a lot of improvements.”
Ballarat Golf Club general manager Michael Phillips said there was a wealth of high quality entries and he looks forward to seeing improvements in the passionate Britt’s game as Ballarat Golf Club does its bit to support local juniors.
“The quality of applications was high which showed that there is a lot of passionate junior golfers out there,” Phillips said.
“For us as a club we want to use our resources and networks to facilitate more opportunities like this especially for junior golfers in the region and we hope Rose has a great year of golf and golfing experiences.”
Paddy Murphy and Jackson Connor were also selected as finalists for their high quality applications as well as an encouragement award going to Liam Howlett. At just 10 years old, Howlett shows great golfing ability and leadership qualities.
The three boys will win 2018 memberships to Ballarat Golf Club and Howlett will also win a 12-month driving range membership from David Wallis Golf.
The scholarship was available to any golfer under the age of 18 in the region and is supported by Golf Victoria, PGA Australia and Titleist Footjoy.
