Naps-Sebas proved too good for East Ballarat in Tuesday evening’s second round clash at Russell Square, while Darley won the battle against Wendouree on home soil.
A half century from Ben Trew (55) helped Napoleons-Sebastopol reach 9-149 before the Hawks tried to haul in the total.
But the hosts were unable to match Naps-Sebas’ efforts with the willow, making just 9-136 from their 20 overs.
Over at Darley Park, the Lions batted first and with 43 from opener Lachlan Herring, finished on 7-111 at the completion of their allotted overs.
Wendouree fell just short of reeling in the target, stuck on 9-106 when stumps were pulled.
Opener Jack Peeters made 46 to be the best of the Red Caps batsmen, however it wasn’t enough as the team slumped to its first defeat of the campaign.
In other games on Tuesday evening, Ballarat-Redan defeated Buninyong, North Ballarat beat Brown Hill and Golden Point got the win in the clash against Mt Clear.
The third and last round of Major League T20 Cup matches before finals are scheduled to be played on Tuesday, January 16.
Following those games, the top four teams on the ladder will battle out semi-finals on Sunday, January 21.
The grand final will follow that night.
