It’s believed a CFA ute, which was towing a trailer, was reversing into a fire station on Bells Road in Smythes Creek before it was struck by the boy’s allegedly stolen vehicle about 12.20am.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Natalie Butler said the boy allegedly fled the scene on foot while his female passenger, also 14, was restrained by firefighters, who called in police.

The driver, a 14-year-old Bullarto boy, eventually returned to the scene and was arrested by officers. 

Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman Lana Wilson said paramedics assessed three people after the crash.

The boy has been charged with a number of offences including theft of motor vehicle, conduct endangering serious injury, failing to render assistance, leaving the scene of an accident and unlicensed driving.

He is due to face a children’s court for a remand hearing.

A firefighter said local CFA crews have been left shaken following the incident.

Earlier in the night, firefighters had been called out to a house fire on Ryans Road in Cape Clear about 9.30pm on Sunday, finding the house fully engulfed in flames.

It took more than 14 fire crews to contain the blaze, bringing it under control about 11.10pm.

Ms Butler said the occupants of the house were clearing their property ahead of fire restrictions before the house caught alight. 

A 13-year-old boy sustained minor injuries during the fire and was treated at the scene. 

The blaze was deemed non-suspicious.

CFA duty officer Ben Reynolds said more than 10 trucks were called out as rural locations such as Cape Clear sometimes lack reliable water sources to help battle blazes.

The investigation into the alleged hit-run at Smythes Creek was ongoing.
