Now, the two are being combined in a move that is billed as bringing together two ancient loves.
If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, you might want to head along to the Ballarat Feer Festival.
The exercise stems from Germany but will find its place in Australia as beer-loving yogis unite in raising a pot to the sun on the shores of Lake Wendouree.
The Health Hub Wellness Centre will take festival-goers through their poses at the festival, on January 20.
Hub manager Luke Gibson said the group had been toying with the idea to help launch the centre’s new yoga classes before an offer from festival organisers to help people loosen-up and limber-up seemed like fun.
“Beer is another element our instructors will add to their technique,” Mr Gibson said. “Hopefully as people enjoy the festival, they can get a little exercise as well.”
Beer yoga involves sips as transitioning through pints and poses but Mr Gibson hinted there might be prizes for minimal spillage.
There will be beer salutes, beer planks and plenty of cheers on mats.
Beer yoga is free to all Ballarat Beer Festival patrons at the event’s new location by Lake Wendouree.
