The first of the three part Summer Sundays series attracted crowds to the shady lawns of the gardens for a relaxing afternoon enjoying genres from acoustic to blues.
City of Ballarat mayor Samantha McIntosh said it was fantastic to see around 2500 people at the Botanical Gardens for the event.
“It's an event that's built up a faithful following over the past seven years, and last night was certainly no exception,” Cr McIntosh said.
“The relaxed atmosphere was a great way for locals and visitors alike to wind down after the excitement of the Cycling Nationals.”
Artists Bob Evans, Al Parkinson, Freya Josephine Hollick and Baby Blue performed from 3pm to 7pm.
The free afternoon of live music will continue on Sunday January 14 and Sunday January 21.
Ballarat’s up and coming band Butterfunked will take the stage for series two of the event, bringing funky rhythms, cool vocals and a killer horn section to the gardens.
As a further showcase of local talent, Sam Boon, Ballarat artist who is now based in Melbourne, will perform with Olaf Scott on Hammond and Matt Gibson on drums as part of the Sam Boon Hammond Trio.
Lazenby Young Blues Guitarist of the Year Rhiannon Simpson will bring blues tunes to the gardens, on return from a three-month tour in the United States.
The pop-up fully licensed garden bar was a hit with listeners, a new edition for the seventh year of Summer Sundays in Ballarat.
