The teen arrived at the South Pole after a gruelling 37-day journey and is the youngest to complete the polar hat-trick but is also the first woman to set a new route through Kansas Glacier from the Amundsen Coast of Antarctica.

"The one (record) I think is really special is the first woman to set a new route to the South Pole, and that's kind of the one that I keep bringing up, the rest of them I'm not really fussed," she said.

The 'rest of them' includes, at age 14, becoming the youngest to ski to the North Pole from anywhere outside the last degree of latitude, resulting in her being awarded Australian Geographic Society's Young Adventurer of the Year.

As well as the first Australian female to ski coast to Pole unsupported and unassisted, and the youngest to complete the 550km crossing of Greenland in June 2017.

Her team's crossing of the unexplored Kansas Glacier means Jade and her all-Australian team have named some features of the Glacier and will apply to the US Geological Society to make them official when they return.

She's named two unnamed peaks Old Mate and His Mate, and other features Opera House Ridge, Anzac Steps and Blue Tongue Crevasse Field.

She's been documenting her journey on Instagram, which includes pictures of her father, Paul Hameister, the first Australian to complete the Seven Summits and the Polar Hat Trick, and stories of her guide Eric Philips from Hobart and National Geographic camera team Ming D'Arcy and Health Jamieson, who hail from Sydney.

She told 3AW that of all her adventures, this had been the toughest.

"It was definitely the hardest, the longest by a long shot as well. I'm really ready for a hot shower and a good night's sleep," she said.

Mr Philips said this season's weather had been the worst he had seen on a polar expedition.

"We had unusually strong and persistent wind, whiteout, blizzards - conditions that could have thwarted the trip. The expedition was saved by our own persistence, resilience and utter determination," he said.

The extreme temperatures included two days that were minus 50 degrees Celsius with windchill, one of which was Christmas Day.

There was tinsel in her tent, and her Christmas lunch was instant noodles with a dry biscuit.

"It was my first white Christmas," Jade said.

"It was a really hard day with extreme weather conditions and I realised why only 20 women have made this journey before."

On Day 29 of her journey, she experienced a snow quake, where her tent dropped several centimetres after a loud rumble and a day earlier described the journey as a 'big mental game'.

"I think for me the goal I set for myself and I keep chipping away at it and eventually get there. I think for me, just kind of going with it," she said.

So what's next for this teen adventurer?

"I've got a lot of things I want to do, first is Year 11 and 12, first is a bit of recovery... then I'll start thinking about what's next."

Jade will fly to Union Glacier Base in Antarctica before making her way home to Melbourne via Chile.
