In what was meant to be day one of round 8’s two-day format, not even a handful of overs were bowled in Ballarat while at Darley Park, Mt Clear and the Lions played 16 overs before the rain hit.
A frustrating start to the new year for cricketers, and ironically if play had of returned a week earlier – which has been the case in recent years – extreme heat would have ruled out any play.
The fixture will now move to the one-day format to gain a result next, and that looks extremely likely given the warm week of weather that is on the horizon.
