Emergency crews are joining Bunnings workers at more than 40 stores across the state to discuss fire safety over a sausage sizzle, including at Ballarat’s on Creswick Road.
Glen Park CFA captain Tracey Webber says her brigade hoped to raise enough money to build a meeting room next to where they store their fire vehicles northeast of the CBD.
“We’ve been to about 20 jobs over summer, including a few car fires,” she says.
“But we don’t really have a proper place to stage meetings when it’s hot.”
More than $125,000 was raised in 2016, with $63,000 going directly to CFA brigades.
