The Ballarat Cricket Association club, granted a place in the semi-finals due to the Grampians league not sending a representative to the Central Highlands Twenty20 competition, will take on Macedon in the Australia Day decider.
VRI proved too good for Lexton Cricket Club last Sunday on its way to the final.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, VRI Delacombe ripped through the Lexton top order, taking six wickets for just 29 runs within the first six overs. Matthew Messemaker, Shawn Wallace and Josh Ryan all inflicted damage with the pink ball.
Lexton’s innings didn’t get much better except for a 39-run partnership between lower-order batsmen Bryce Karslake and Michael Jennings, which helped the team to 80 before being dismissed.
VRI cruised to 49 runs before skipper Jarrod Burns was bowled by Dylan Lewis for an entertaining 29.
Thanks to some wonderful stroke play from Justin Murley, VRI chased down the required target to win in just nine overs.
Friday’s final will be played at the Cricket Willow venue in Shepard’s Flat, starting at 12noon.
It will be followed by the division one Cricket Willow Cup decider between Golden Point and Riddell, which is set to get underway from 3pm.
