On Wednesday Buninyong MP Geoff Howard announced $100,000 in funding over three years for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program which seeks to couple disadvantaged youth between the ages of seven and 17 with an adult mentor.
The money comes from the government’s $12.3 million Engage! program which will support 107 youth targeted programs across the next three years.
Speaking alongside Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor coordinator Sarah Lapinski at the announcement, Mr Howard said “ by matching young people with a mentor, they can increase their confidence and resilience through friendship, guidance and support”.
