Auchettl has been travelling in recent times, but continued to play football while overseas and during a trip to the Northern Territory.
His travels reaped a premiership with the Shepherds Bush Raiders in London and a runners-up medal with Narndu Crows in Australia’s north.
Auchettl said he was really looking forward to playing with his old club again.
“We have a young, exciting list by the looks of things,” he said.
Auchettl played three senior games during the 2016 Central Highlands Football League season before embarking on his travels.
Before that, he had a good 2015 campaign, where he booted 30 goals from 17 games.
He returns to boost a Dunnstown outfit that narrowly missed finals last year.
The Towners have added some firepower to that squad, including Will Short and Joel Radlof from Maryborough in the Bendigo league and returning duo Lachlan Poulter and Brayden Leonard.
Dunnstown is set to open its new campaign with a round one home clash against Bungaree on Saturday, April 7.
The Towners then travel to meet Gordon in round two.
