The move comes as registrations open for Premier’s Active April challenge, a commitment to 30 minutes of exercise for the 30 days of April. This can be as simple as playing with your dog or dancing about the house.
Ballarat was one of the state’s most active regions for last year’s free challenge with 5322 participants, the fourth highest region in the state.
More than 50 per cent of Victorian adults fail to meet recommended physical activity levels while 80 per cent of children do not exercise enough, according to the Premier’s office.
Active April aims to help set healthy routines that will stick beyond April. Victorians and pets of all ages, abilities can register with a chance to win prizes: activeapril.vic.gov.au.
