Cowan, who won a senior premiership with Daylesford as a youngster, spent eight seasons with Geelong after being drafted to the club in 2009. He managed just 16 AFL games before being delisted last year.

During his career with Geelong, he played in 15 wins. His only defeat came in the 2016 preliminary final against Sydney at the MCG.
