The Skipton manor was the home of glamorous Hollywood silent movie actress Claire Adams and her Australian high society husband Scobie Mackinnon.
The film star had a passion for rescuing homeless dogs, even having boots made to protect their paws during the cold winters.
Many of the dogs came from the Lort Smith Animal Hospital and some were even driven to Mooramong in a Rolls-Royce.
Mooramong’s Dogs Day Out event offers adults, children and dogs the chance to swim in the newly refurbished pool.
There will also be a grand parade of dogs and their owners around the pool, which until recently was the largest private swimming pool in Victoria, and a best dressed competition with the prize a pet photography session and accommodation at Mooramong.
The event comes as the National Trust property celebrates its 80th anniversary since its art deco conversion and the hand digging of the pool.
Mooramong Dogs Day Out takes place on Saturday, February 17, from noon to 6pm.
There will also be guided tours of the homestead available between 12-2pm.
