A four-car nose-to-tail accident on Gillies St has caused Friday afternoon traffic headaches for motorists.

The accident happened about 4pm outside Ballarat High School near the corner of Sturt St, blocking one south-bound lane for more than an hour.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said a woman in her 30s was taken to Ballarat Base Hospital in a stable condition with soft tissue injuries, and a second woman in her 40s was also taken to hsopital in a stable condition with back injuries.
Ballarat City CFA crews were called in to wash away oil on the roadway before the lane reopened about 5.15pm.
