Victoria Police has released the following statement:
A woman has been arrested following an alleged crash in Ballarat last night.
It is alleged the woman was turning right from Armstrong Street onto Mair Street when the car crashed into a shopfront and several other vehicles about 8.15pm.
The 42-year-old Melton woman was arrested shortly after on Lydiard Street and taken to hospital.
She is expected to be charged on summons with traffic-related offences.
Her passenger, a 42-year-old Lexton woman, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
EARLIER:
A second-hand electrical goods store in Mair St has been badly damaged after a car ploughed through its front window about 8.20pm Friday.
The silver Commodore mounted the footpath, took out a pole supporting the shop awning, struck a parked 4WD and smashed in to the front of the shop near the corner of Mair and Armstrong Streets.
The driver, believed to be substance affected, allegedly tried to reverse out from the shop and continue along Mair St but a passerby removed her keys from the ignition to prevent her from leaving.
After a short scuffle the woman fled but was arrested nearby a short time later.
