Five CFA units were at the scene of the single storey house fire before 7pm but were unable to prevent the fire engulfing the home located near the Western Freeway and Ballarat Secondary’ College’s Mount Rowan campus.
The CFA were first alerted to the blaze near the intersection of Giot Drive and Ulswater Road at 6.43pm and it was declared under control by 7.10pm
The family were believed away from the home at the time of the fire but arrived home shortly after CFA units had controlled the blaze.
Ambulance crews were on scene to offer support but no one was injured.
The fire was declared safe at 8pm.
Victoria Police and CFA investigators are continuing to look at the cause of the blaze.
