Amy Spicer, 28, was first to appear in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court yesterday, on drug trafficking and possession of firearm and ammunition charges, where her bail application was refused. 

After her application was turned down, Spicer threatened Magistrate Gregory Robinson by telling him “you will be sent out in a body bag, I promise you that,” as she was escorted from the court room by custody officer. 

Mr Robinson ignored the threats and made no comment to Spicer for what she had said.

On February 16 this year detectives from Ballarat Divisional Response Unit executed a search warrant at Spicer’s house in Sebastopol.

During the search, police found a stock and barrel of a firearm in the bedroom wardrobe along with shotgun ammunition and plans on how to manufacture homemade firearms. 

Police also found 15 grams of methamphetamine and 15 grams of cannabis in various parts of the bedroom including behind a chest of draws.

The drugs were found with zip lock bags and scales as well as a black book with evidence of drug trafficking and evidence on Spicer’s mobile phone including messages reference drug dealing. 

The court heard police also found a back-pack with the accused’s name on it in the laundry of the house that contained zip lock bags and 50 grams of methamphetamine in powder form. 

When arrested and interviewed, Spicer admitted using ice and cannabis in the days leading up to the search but denied knowing anything about the trafficking quantity of drugs. 

The court heard Spicer’s partner and co-accused was also wanted by police as he was not present at the house when searched.

However, when the police informant informed the court a warrant had been issued for the arrest on Ben Schultz, a man stood up and promptly left the courtroom.

Schultz later appeared in court having been taken into custody by police where he made no application for bail.

Both parties were remanded in custody to Thursday, March 1, 2018.
