Thieves have made off with a specially-made gate from the Dungog Showground.

The large gate was laser cut with the word “Dungog” to match the remaining gate which says “Showground”.
Dungog Show committee member Karen Sowter labelled the theft as “absurd”.
It is believed to have been stolen some time over the January long weekend.
“They are not lightweight gates so someone would have needed a ute or trailer to take it,” she said.
The committee is appealing for the return of the gate with “no questions asked”.
Mrs Sowter said the gate would have to be replaced at unnecessary cost to the committee.
“We need the gates for security and safety purposes,” she said.
