Thieves smashed their way through the front doors of Crossroads Trading on Old Melbourne Road using a stolen Nissan Navara before stealing a cash register about 2.45am.
It’s believed two offenders were inside the white Navara, which would have extensive damage to its front, according to police.
Crossroads Trading owner Asha Shanahan said it could have been worse as only $200 was taken from the till.
“I was shocked,” she said.
Crossroads Trading, which has operated in Ballan for more than 25 years, sells farming supplies and equipment.
Mrs Shanahan and her husband Bernie took over the business four weeks ago.
