I'M not the sportiest person, but I do love having a go at things. When I was seven, this meant attempting to rollerskate up and down our concrete driveway.
I was never that good, but all I remember is that it was heaps of fun. I'm not sure if I have enough spunk or guts to be a derby skater, but if you do, there is a chance to try it out tonight. Although the next Fresh Meat intake is in early August, now is the time to join up and go along to Fun Skate on Thursdays.
You can borrow skates and protective gear there. It kicks off at 6.30pm - 8.30pm at the Doug Dean Stadium in Nandiriog Drive, Delacombe (behind Delacombe Primary School). It will cost you $10 annual membership fee, insurance (from $10), then $10 per session. The one thing you will need to take along is your own mouth guard and make sure you're wearing socks and if you happen to have your own helmet, bring it along. Don't stress though, there are helmets you can borrow.
As for me, I'm heading to Woollies to collect lots of boxes to move house. Wish me luck!
