At one point this week it looked like it would make the semi-finals, but before it knew it, it had been relegated from the top division.
Ballarat endured heart-breaking losses to Geelong and Bairnsdale. Losing to Geelong by three wickets in the final over and Bairnsdale by four runs.
Victory in either of those would have put it level with both those teams on points – and a likely semi-finalist.
But it was not to be, therefore the BCA faced Traralgon and District on Thursday to remain in division one – unfortunately it lost by five wickets.
Ballarat put in a batting performance to forget, only mustering 97.
Captain Adam Eddy said his side made some poor choices in the middle leaving it well below the 200-run total it was aiming for.
“It didn’t go to plan today,” Eddy said.
“We’re not at all happy with it...but I said to the boys I was proud of how they went about the week – we were possibly one shot away from it being a different story.”
Jason Knowles top-scored with 36, just one of three players to reach double figures with the bat. TDCA tracking the score down in 25 overs with five wickets in hand.
