Tayla has been rallying a team Breast Friends to enter this weekend’s Relay for Life in Ballarat, part of an annual national movement to raise money and awareness for the Cancer Council.
In preparing for her Commonwealth Games duties, Tayla told The Courier her aim was to raise $5000 to name a research award after her beloved aunt Michelle, who died with breast cancer two years ago.
Tayla has almost reached her goal ahead.
Relay for Life Ballarat is at Llanberris athletics track in York Street from Saturday 3.45pm to Sunday 10am, with a candlelight ceremony at 9pm to support and remember loved ones affected by cancer.
People are welcome to pop in anytime to enjoy stalls and live music.
